Station 3 / 10
Know you're His
Your safety rests on God's promise, not your feelings.

You're probably here if
- you've trusted Jesus but wonder if it really worked
- you feel saved on good days and lost on bad ones
- you worry that one sin could cancel everything
- you keep praying the same prayer just to make sure
What this is
Many new Christians ask: am I really saved? God doesn't answer with a vague maybe. He wants you to know you have eternal life (1 John 5:13).
Your assurance rests on what Jesus has done and what God has promised, not on your feelings or how your week went. Feelings go up and down. His promise doesn't.
Jesus said no one can snatch His sheep out of His hand (John 10:27-29). You aren't holding on by your own strength. He is holding you.
Real faith also shows. The same John wrote: “By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments” (1 John 2:3). Not perfectly, but really: new desires to love God, turn from sin and love other Christians. They earn you nothing. They show the Spirit at work. If nothing in you wants to obey Jesus, don't rest on a prayer you once prayed. Come to Him now.
Hold on to this
I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Read slowly: Nothing can separate youRomans 8:31-39
31What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, freely give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.
Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Where to next
- Answer feelings with promisesMemorise 1 John 5:13. Put it on a card or your lock screen and say it aloud when doubt comes.Do it in Levo
- Stop re-praying for salvationIf you have trusted Jesus, you don't need to get saved again every week. Thank Him you belong to Him.
- Read and pray every dayA chapter of a Gospel and a few minutes of honest prayer. This is the milk you grow on (1 Peter 2:2). Later, move on to letters like Romans and Ephesians.Read John 1
- Do one thing Jesus saysPick one command from your reading and obey it this week. Assurance grows as you walk with Him (1 John 2:3).
- Get baptised and belongIf you haven't been baptised, ask a church leader about it. Join a church where people know your name.Go to Baptism
- Walk with an older ChristianAsk someone who has followed Jesus for years to meet with you, and what helped them when they doubted.
Watch out: Looking only inward
Search only your own heart for proof and you'll always find reasons to doubt. Look first at Jesus and His promises.
Pray
Father, thank You that I am Yours because of Jesus, not because of how I feel. When doubts come, help me trust Your promises. Hold me fast, because I can't hold myself, and teach me to walk in Your ways.
