Prayer
In plain words
Talking with God, in your own words, about anything, knowing He hears you.
Prayer is simply talking with God. You do not need special words, a church or closed eyes. You can pray out loud, in your head, while walking or lying awake at night. Think of it like talking to a father who is wise and kind and always has time. The Bible says you can pour out your heart to Him (Psalm 62:8), the good and the messy parts.

Jesus gave His friends a pattern: honour God, ask for His kingdom, ask for what you need, ask for forgiveness and help in temptation (Matthew 6:9-13). Paul says to bring everything to God with thanks instead of worrying, and His peace will guard you (Philippians 4:6-7). When you have no words, the Spirit Himself prays for you (Romans 8:26). Prayer is less about results and more about relationship.
Go deeper Going deeper
The Bible uses many words for prayer: praise, thanks, confession, asking, crying out, even complaint, as the Psalms show. The Greek proseuche is a general word for prayer to God. Jesus prays often and alone, and the early church devotes itself to prayer together. Christians differ on set prayers versus free prayer, but agree that through Christ every believer may come straight to the Father.
My verses
Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah
So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.
Pray without ceasing.
