Forgiveness
In plain words
God cancelling the debt of your sin because of Jesus, and you doing the same for others.
To forgive means to cancel a debt. When someone hurts you, they owe you something. Forgiving means you let that debt go. God does this with us: because of Jesus, He does not hold our sins against us. The Bible says He removes them as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). If you confess your sin, He forgives, right away (1 John 1:9).
Go further Growing
Forgiveness from God is instant and complete, based on Jesus' blood, not on how sorry you feel (Ephesians 1:7). Feeling forgiven may take longer, and that is normal. God also calls you to forgive others as He forgave you (Colossians 3:13). Forgiving does not mean saying it did not matter, and it does not always mean trusting the person again. It means giving up your right to get even.

Greek aphesis means release, the word used for setting captives free or cancelling debts. Old Testament sacrifices pointed forward to a forgiveness that only Christ's death could fully give. Jesus links receiving forgiveness with forgiving others (Matthew 6:14-15), not as a way to earn it but as its natural fruit. Christians differ on whether confession to a priest or pastor is needed, but agree forgiveness rests on Christ alone.
My verses
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
Bear with one another and forgive any complaint you may have against someone else. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours.
