Being saved

Can I lose my salvation?

Short answer

If you keep trusting Jesus, nothing can take you out of His hand. Worrying about it usually shows the Spirit is at work in you.

No one can snatch Jesus' sheep out of His hand. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God's love in Christ. And God, who began a good work in you, will complete it.

Christians differ here: some believe a true believer can finally walk away from Christ, others that true believers will persevere and the warnings are one way God keeps them. Both take the warnings seriously: “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a wicked heart of unbelief that turns away from the living God” (Hebrews 3:12). Ask your church what it teaches, and if you have drifted, come back today.

A sin, a bad season or a wave of doubt doesn't cancel your salvation. Peter denied Jesus three times and was restored. The danger is a settled drift where you no longer care how you live. If that is you, don't wait.

Read Romans 8:31-39 today and thank God that your future rests on His faithfulness.

My verses

My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

See to it, brothers, that none of you has a wicked heart of unbelief that turns away from the living God. But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the assurance we had at first.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you unblemished in His glorious presence, with great joy.
