Being saved

Have I committed the unforgivable sin?

Short answer

If you're worried that you have, you almost certainly haven't. People who have hardened their hearts against God don't lose sleep over it.

Jesus spoke of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit when religious leaders watched Him heal and said He did it by the devil's power. They looked straight at God's work and called it evil: a settled, hardened rejection of the Spirit who draws people to Jesus.

Unwanted thoughts, angry words to God, or a sin you keep falling into are not this. Many people with anxiety or OCD get stuck on this question. If that's you, talk to someone: the fear is the problem, not your guilt.

The way back is open to anyone who wants to come. Jesus will never drive away the one who comes to Him.

Tell God today that you want Him. That desire is His Spirit at work in you.

My verses

Truly I tell you, the sons of men will be forgiven all sins and blasphemies, as many as they utter. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of eternal sin.” Jesus made this statement because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.

Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away.

Let the wicked man forsake his own way and the unrighteous man his own thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
