Hell
In plain words
Final separation from God and His goodness. The Bible warns about it so that no one has to go there.
Hell is a hard word, and the Bible does not use it lightly. Jesus spoke about it more than anyone, not to scare people, but to warn them, like a doctor who tells you the truth because he cares. Hell means being shut out from God's presence and from all the good that comes from Him (2 Thessalonians 1:9). It is real, and it is serious.
The same Bible also says God does not want anyone to perish, but wants everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Jesus died so that no one has to face this. Anyone who turns to Him is welcome, whatever they have done. If you trust Him, you do not need to live in fear of judgement.

Hell is God's just response to sin that is not forgiven, not a place where God enjoys cruelty. Jesus says some will go away to eternal punishment and others to eternal life (Matthew 25:46). Two mistakes are common: ignoring it, or using it to frighten people into faith. Let it make you serious about sin, thankful for Jesus, and caring toward people who do not know Him yet.

The English word translates mainly the Greek gehenna, named after a valley outside Jerusalem linked to child sacrifice and later to judgement. Sheol in Hebrew and hades in Greek usually mean the place of the dead in general. Jesus says to fear the one who can destroy both soul and body (Matthew 10:28). Most Christians through history have held that hell is conscious and lasting, while some hold that the lost finally cease to exist.
My verses
And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
They will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction, separated from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His might.
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
