Church
How do I find a good church?
Short answer
Look for a church that teaches the Bible, keeps Jesus at the centre, prays and loves people well. No church is perfect.
Start with the essentials. Is the Bible taught? Is Jesus at the centre, His death and resurrection, not just life advice? Do they pray? Do people know each other's names?
Warning signs: leaders nobody may question, pressure to give money, secrecy, or a claim that only this church has the truth.
Music style, size and denomination matter less than you think. Pick one close enough to get involved during the week, not just Sunday.
Visit for a few weeks and stay after the service. Ask a leader what they believe about Jesus and the Bible, and how to get involved. Then commit and stop shopping around.
My verses
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is among you, watching over them not out of compulsion, but because it is God’s will; not out of greed, but out of eagerness; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.
Pay close attention to your life and to your teaching. Persevere in these things, for by so doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
