Resurrection
In plain words
Jesus came back to life in a real body after He died, and one day all His people will too.
Resurrection means coming back to life after death, not as a ghost and not only in memory, but in a real body. Christians believe Jesus died on Friday and rose again on Sunday. Many people saw Him afterwards, ate with Him, and touched Him (Luke 24:39). Paul even lists witnesses who were still alive when he wrote, people others could go and ask (1 Corinthians 15:3-8).

Paul says that if Christ has not been raised, our faith is useless and we are still in our sins (1 Corinthians 15:17). So the resurrection is not an extra. It is the centre. It also means death does not get the last word. Jesus said whoever believes in Him will live, even though they die (John 11:25-26). That changes how you face grief and fear.

Greek anastasis means standing up again. The Old Testament hints at it in passages like Daniel 12, and many Jews in Jesus' time expected a general resurrection at the end of history. Jesus' rising is the first of that harvest. Our future bodies will be raised imperishable and glorious (1 Corinthians 15:42-44). Christians differ on the order of end-time events, but all historic creeds confess the bodily resurrection.
My verses
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.
Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see—for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
So will it be with the resurrection of the dead: What is sown is perishable; it is raised imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
