Trinity
In plain words
Christians believe in one God who exists as three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The word Trinity is not in the Bible, but the idea runs all through it. The Bible says clearly that there is only one God. It also calls the Father God, Jesus God and the Holy Spirit God. Christians did not invent a puzzle. They tried to describe honestly what they found.
No picture from everyday life fits perfectly, and most comparisons go wrong somewhere. The simplest way to say it: God is one, and God is a relationship of love inside Himself. Before anything was made, the Father, the Son and the Spirit loved each other. That love is where you come from.

Jesus told His followers to baptise "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). Notice: one name, three persons. Paul ends a letter with a blessing from all three (2 Corinthians 13:14). The Trinity is not a side topic. It shapes how you pray: to the Father, through the Son, in the power of the Spirit.
Two common mistakes: thinking God wears three masks at different times, or thinking there are three gods working as a team. The Bible rejects both. For daily life this matters because love, community and listening are not extras God added later. They are who He is, and you were made for them.

The Greek word trias appears in the second century, and the church later spoke of one ousia (being) in three hypostaseis (persons). The Old Testament insists on one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), while hinting at plurality in God's word and Spirit. The New Testament then shows the Son and the Spirit sharing the divine name and work (John 1:1).
The Nicene Creed of 325 and 381 put this into words that almost all churches still confess today. Christians differ on fine points, such as how the Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, which divides Eastern and Western churches, but they agree on the core: one God in three persons.
My verses
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is One.
