Calling, work and everyday life
How do I know God's will for a big decision?
Short answer
Start with what God has already said in the Bible. Pray, get wise advice, look honestly at your situation, then decide and trust Him.
Should I take this job, move, study this, marry this person? We often want a sign. God sometimes guides clearly, but usually He leads through wisdom.
First, check the Bible: if an option clearly goes against it, you have your answer. Second, pray for wisdom; God gives it generously. Third, ask two or three mature Christians who know you. Fourth, look at your gifts, circumstances and open doors. Fifth, notice where you have peace, but don't rely on feelings alone.
Then decide. If both options honour God, you are free to choose. God won't punish you for picking the wrong good option. He guides people who are moving.
Pray: Lord, I want Your will more than mine. Show me the next step, and give me courage to take it.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
