The Bible
Did God create through evolution?
Short answer
Christians hold different views on how God created. All agree that God is the Creator and that every human being bears His image.
Some Christians believe God created in six ordinary days a few thousand years ago (young earth), some that the earth is very old and God created in stages (old earth), some that God used evolution (evolutionary creation). All three include people who take the Bible seriously.
The Bible is clear on the main thing: God made everything, on purpose, out of nothing. We are made in His image, male and female, with dignity and responsibility. Sin came through human rebellion, and Jesus came to put it right.
Genesis 1 tells us above all who made the world and why. Christians disagree on how much it says about how.
Talk it through with your church, read widely, and don't let it keep you from Jesus.
My verses
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.
