The Bible
Doesn't the Bible contradict itself?
Short answer
Some passages look like contradictions at first, but most turn out to be different angles, different purposes or translation issues, not real errors.
Honest witnesses describe the same events with different details. Police get suspicious when statements match word for word. One Gospel mentions one angel at the tomb, another two. If there were two, there was at least one.
Other tensions come from reading ancient writing like a news report, not knowing the culture, or forgetting that some books record what people did without approving of it.
Careful Christians still disagree on a few passages. That's okay. Honest questions are no threat to God.
When you hit one, read the whole chapter, check a study Bible and ask a mature Christian. Like the Bereans in Acts, examine the Scriptures yourself. Don't throw out the book over one puzzle.
My verses
Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.
Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed workman who accurately handles the word of truth.
