Bible verses for loneliness
When I feel on my own
The lie
No one cares, and it's safer not to reach out.
The truth
You're never alone, and you were never meant to do life alone. God is with you, and He puts the lonely into families.
More truth
- Loneliness makes every other temptation louder.
- Reach out first. Someone else is lonely too.
- Jesus calls you His friend.
Pause
Stop. Breathe. Being lonely doesn't mean you're unloved. God is here, right now, in this room.
My verses
The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
Turn to me and be gracious, for I am lonely and afflicted.
God settles the lonely in families; He leads the prisoners out to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.
And teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle by the farthest sea, even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast.
And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or terrified of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.
Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. For if one falls down, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to help him up!
Pray
Lord, I feel alone. Thank You that You're here. Fill this quiet with You, not with something that will hurt me. And lead me to real people today: show me who to reach out to. Amen.
Your way out
- Text or call one person right now. Just to say hi.
- Go somewhere with people: a café, a walk, church.
- Don't sit alone with your phone in the dark.
- Plan one time this week to see someone in person.
- Pray for three people by name.

Lonely and tempted
Many falls start with loneliness. When you feel alone, that's the moment to reach out to a real person, not to a screen.
And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
